Orlando Idol Audition
Contest Rules and Regulations
2009

 

Entrants must be Florida residents who are 16 to 28 years old as of June 27, 2009 (which means you must be born on or between June 13, 1980 and June 27, 1993) and eligible to work in the United States are welcome to audition. If you are under 18 years of age, you must be accompanied by your parent or legal guardian. If you are accompanied by a legal guardian (as opposed to a parent), your legal guardian must bring proof of guardianship or you will not be able to audition. In addition, your parent or legal guardian must have the authority to sign documents on your behalf, including the release form on the website www.myfoxorlando.com (which should be signed by you and your parent and/or legal guardian, as indicated on the form). Entrants must provide valid identification at the time
of registration.
You are ineligible to participate if you progressed in any previous season of "American Idol" to any of the following levels:
• Season 1 – top 30 contestants
• Season 2 – top 32 contestants
• Season 3 – top 36 contestants
• Season 4 – top 44 contestants
• Season 5 – top 44 contestants
• Season 6 – top 40 contestants
• Season 7 – top 24 contestants
• Season 8 – top 36 contestants
Employees of Oregon Television, Inc. and its stations, WOFL FOX 35, (“WOFL FOX 35”),
(“Sponsor”), WOGX FOX 51, WRBW MY 65 and their affiliated companies, Festival Bay Mall at International Drive, News America, Inc., Fox Interactive Media, American Idol Productions, Inc., FremantleMedia North America, Inc., 19 TV Limited., 19 Merchandising Ltd., CKX, Inc., their parent, subsidiary, affiliated and related entities, their advertising agencies, and the officers, directors, employees, licensees and assignees of each (“Partners”) as well as the immediate family members and/or anyone living in the household of each are ineligible.
No purchase is necessary to enter. One audition per entrant. To enter, viewers must go to the Festival Bay Mall at International Drive on June 27, 2009 at 10:00am when the line begins and must arrive before 2:00pm when the line closes. Entrants will perform a
song of their choice a cappella (without musical accompaniment) in front of a panel of judges. All entrants must sign a personal release form from myfoxorlando.com before participating in performances in front of judges. If an entrant is under 18 years of age then their parent or legalguardian must sign the personal release on their behalf before participating in performances in front of the judges. Four finalists will be selected from qualifying entries on June 27, 2009. The judges will judge each entrant and rate them on a point scale from 1-10 in each of the following categories; Appearance, Voice Quality and Star Quality for a possible total of 30 points. The Four finalists will be those who receive the highest scores. In the event of a tie for the 4th spot, the judges will randomly choose from among all the entries that are tied. Two (2) alternates will be the entrants receiving the next two highest scores (5th and 6th highest scores). In the event of a tie for 6th place, the judges will randomly choose from among all the entries that are tied. Finalists will be notified by phone at 9:00am on June 28, 2009 if they are selected. They will then be asked to appear on the FOX-35 Morning show. Each finalist must arrive at the FOX- 35 Studios by 7:00am on the day of their appearance and perform a song of their choice a cappella. On June 29, Finalist 1 (the highest scorer) will perform. Finalist 2 will perform on June 30, Finalist 3 will perform on July 1, 2009 and Finalist 4 will perform on July 2, 2009. Finalists must be able to be
physically present in the FOX-35 studios on these dates as well as the final appearance on July 3, 2009, or they will be disqualified and an alternate will fill take their place. The judges will judge each finalist and rate them on a point scale from 1-10 in each of the following categories; Appearance, Voice Quality and Star Quality for a possible total of 30 points. On July 3, 2009 all Finalists will be asked to re-appear on the Fox-35 Morning show and the two finalists that receive the highest scores will be named the winners. In the event of a tie for the 2nd spot the judges will randomly chose from among all finalists that are tied. The decision of the judges will be final as to all matters, including, but not limited to, whether an entry is received timely, whether a winner is eligible, or whether a person entering should be disqualified. The competition will be judged by FOX-35 Employees. Two (2) Winners will receive an opportunity to audition before American Idol producers at theAmerican Idol audition in Orlando, Florida on July 9, 2009 at Amway Arena. In the event production of American Idol is cancelled or postponed, the prize will not be awarded. ERV of prize: Priceless. Winners must sign, complete and return a release and affidavit of eligibility when they pick up their prize. If a winner is under 18 years of age, then their parent or legal guardian must sign, complete
and return a release and affidavit of eligibility at the time of notification. If a winner does not return the affidavit of eligibility on July 8, 2009, the prize for that winner will not be awarded. For the American Idol audition, the winners will be judged under the criteria listed in the official American Idol rules and will not receive preferential treatment for callbacks. Decisions for callbacks are made solely by the American Idol Producers. You will not audition in front of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi or Randy Jackson during this audition.If a winner of FOX35’s American Idol is asked to audition for one (1) or more of the semi-final rounds of the American Idol Season 9 competition (currently scheduled for January 2010), you MUST be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Producer at that time that you do not have any of the following agreements in effect (written or oral):
• a contract for talent representation (for example, a talent agent or manager);
• a music recording contract;
• an agreement relating to the use of your name, voice and/or likeness;
• an exclusive acting contract; or
• any other contractual arrangement that would prohibit you from fully participating in the show and/or entering into can contracts required by Producer, including and exclusive management contract, recording contract and merchandising contract.
Prize cannot be redeemed for cash or substituted for any other items by a winner. Winners cannot assign or transfer prize. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a comparable prize of like or greater value, including cash, for any prize, for any reason. Winners are responsible for paying all local, county, state, and federal taxes on prizes based on the estimated retail value of the prize as set forth in these rules. Only one prize will be awarded per household. Odds of winning depend on number of entries/votes received, decision of the judges and votes received. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited or restricted by law, including without limitation, in jurisdictions requiring registration, filing, trust account, or posting of a bond, or any other requirements or disclosures that are not expressly satisfied by these rules. Sponsor is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, offering, or administration of the giveaway, or in the announcement of the prize. By entering, participants represent that they are eligible, and agree (a) to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, (b) to release Sponsor, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize, and (c) to Sponsor’s use of entrants’ personal information as described in WOFL FOX35’S Privacy Policy located at www.myfoxorlando.com.
